In August 2018, an acclaimed, experienced researcher released her debut novel. A month later, Reese Witherspoon chose Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens for her latest book club pick. Between that and word of mouth, a domino effect took place.
The book has more than 46,000 reviews on Amazon averaging 4.8 out of 5 stars. According to The New York Times Putnam, the book’s publisher, had to go back to the printer almost 40 times to keep up with demand for copies. Now there’s a movie deal in the works.
